"We want to go forward to Zero in this task and get you to really see the world in a direct style that involves you building a relationship with a person or group and following them with your camera to build up a short film that takes a more personal approach to filmmaking."

About the project
I think it's a very good exercise for us - aspiring filmmakers - to do something which require so less tools and time to demonstrate the basic skills of filming with non-covered special effects and artificial stories.
When vocalists wants to improve their skills and singing abilities, teacher always take them to the begginings, where is pure sound/voice without vibratos, hoarseness and other stylistic treatments which are used to 'entertain'. It is very important in music to have strong technical basis to be able to move freely between the scales etc.
I think the aim of this task is to do exactly the same. Choosing a simple story and film it in traditional way while the effect can be much more powerful what we would thought it might be.
My idea
As for the film I need to choose my real life character I was thinking about interesting activities that certain people are doing :
gymnastics
dj-ing
creating music
For now I'm most likely to do gymnastic one as I think it will look the most effective and natural as it requires a lot of movements, energy etc.
Development of a Zero Project
For my Zero project I am going to record my friend from gymnastic society, follow him withcamera around the training room and trying to catch some funny and real moments from the training. I think It should go well and easy as I'm part of this society, so I know more less what I can record and where. He asked me can I record him together with his friend (as they always keeping together) and I think it's a great idea and it will allow me to show his personality even more when he's next to his best friend.
Possibly I will do also second video of a street singer which I met in London as he had very outgoing and interesting personality. I think it would be presenting well on camera. After filming both videos I will decide which I want to choose.
Watching on lectures videos of other students who have already started doing their Zero project, make me realize some of mistakes which I want to avoid, so I'm make sure that : - I don't have too long dialogs
- Make sure that audience know who is the main character
- Not to 'shakey' movements but also not to 'stable' so there is a condensed dynamic
- Make like a mini story line where I show the beginning of a training/performance and then going to main attraction

I have decided to film guys from gymnastics.
I have a lot of dynamic footages and I'm finding this a little bit hard to choose from.
My character Dan - I could feel he felt really comfortable in front of camera, he wanted to show some stuff by his self ( I didn't ask him to do anything), had his own vision.
I wanted to show him in a gymnastics in a few roles he is - as a leader, teacher, and also a mate/friend of others what in a sense allows audience to see better his personality.

My reflections:
When creating this project I had to focus on what makes a person special,
what builds his personality, what makes us want watch something, get to know someone...
I think that overall that was a quite psychological experiment, because we had to choose someone to record - not only because of what he does, or whether he has an acting talent but what really really make his personality and how he behaves in his 'natural' environment.
I had many ideas for the film, I thought about many potential people to film. I liked the idea of not planning anything, just catching up moments with the camera and watching what would happen. I've been doing vlogs before ... I've had experience in it, but focusing on another person without any interference with what it was doing was very innovative. When we look at what's popular in social media, we can see what's real, filmed with real emotions
gives the best result.
My inspirations : Peaceful Warrior
'Dan Millman is a university student as well as a locally famous gymnast who dreams of winning a National Championship competition. He suffers from restlessness, and on one occasion, Dan attempts to compensate for the restlessness by running along streets before sunrise.'
Btw, it's interesting that my character is also named Dan...
Process:
The process of filming was really natural. In the editing part the feedback really helped to me to create a good ending.
Zero - Yes Gymnastics would be a very good subject - any progress? It would be good to see you own work photographs here.
