Last week we went to London to see Nominated Art work for Turner Prize.

We had an opportunity to meet one of the nominated artist Luke Willis Thompson.

He shared with us some thoughts and experiences and said he was doing his project for around 2 years, he really focus on the story behind his character on his photo.

Although I understand idea behind his project I think without reading all of the information and story behind the pictures you can't really see the point and I think art - drawings, paintings, photos, music - should be able to embrace you without even knowing the language.

Second piece - Charlotte Prodger BRIDGIT interested me with the story in the beginning, the piece was very relaxing although boring after a while.

3 screen project by Naeem Mohaiemen’s was a very interesting experience for me because of the instalation although it was hard for me to understand the political language and I feel he could it use it in much more powerful way than he did.

180 The Strand

"180 The Strand is an iconic Brutalist building currently undergoing a transformation into a creative hub for people and progress"

This exhibition surprised me in a very positive way, it was very very interesting visually and I felt like I don't even know where to start and what to watch. From every side I was surrounded by modern art which was very eye catching and interesting.

I felt like this exhibition speak forth to me more as it was made for more younger audience ( this is my subjective opinion ofc.) Probably also more commercial than Turner Prize..

Vertigo sea

For sure one of my favorite ( and as well my colleagues ) was Akomfrah work, Vertigo sea.

Was very powerful, beautiful and at some times shocking - like for example when putting insides of fish next to the beautiful nature.

Second was a video on which I spend most of the time watching, I don't know the name but it was interesting ... felt like showing some artificial reality combined with drugs hallucinations or maybe it was in a different planet?

Many thoughts came through my mind when watching that piece...if we were born in world which was weird like in this video, would we even consider it as weird?

What is consider "beauty" in that reality? ( As in the video there were talking about boys etc)

Are we all just playing some 'roles' in the reality we are into?

COLUMNS - Alex Eagle

Visually engaging columns as a practical engineering expedient.

In the end I would like to add that as I was checking the 180 The Strand website I found

an exhibition which looks very interesting and I think I will go for it in December.

In general I loved this trip so much and I got very inspired to see other exhibitions and Museums of modern art.

"Strange Days: Memories of the Future," curated by Massimiliano Gioni, the New Museum’s Edlis Neeson Artistic Director, in collaboration with The Vinyl Factory, is now on view at The Store X, 180 [The Strand] in London until 9 December 2018.
